I’ve heard it in the Chilliest Land

These two paintings were started shortly after the 2012 election. I was down and out then, I knew something had to change. I read the Emily Dickinson poem “Hope is the thing with Feathers” and began to feel what I was seeing around me, I slept outside, I watched the sky and I felt the winds. I observed a Blue Heron. I felt Emily Dickenson was speaking to me. At the same time every year when the same heron returned, I was reminded of hope and continued to work on these paintings.
